Democrats Host Apple Pie Rally Sept. 29

The Catoosa County Democratic Party is hosting the 2012 Apple Pie Rally at the Davis Cattle Ranch, 1240 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road, on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 12-2 p.m. 

The public is invited out to enjoy food and fun, and to meet and greet local Democratic candidates, including Danny Grant, candidate for United States Congress from the new 14th District, and Tom McMahan, candidate for the Georgia General Assembly from District 1. 

The keynote speakers will include Former Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond and Ringgold's own daughter Stacey Godfrey Evans, state representative from District 40, who now lives in Smyrna. 

Admission is free.

Woman Killed By Falling Tree At Neighborhood Near Hunter Road

A woman was killed by a falling tree outside her home in a neighborhood off Hunter Road late Monday morning. At about 11 a.m., Hamilton County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the 7300 block of Landlock Drive near Micasa Lane. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Public Defender Says Another Entity Needs To Continue Funding For New Mental Health Court
