Police on Saturday morning arrested 22-year-old Anthony Maurice Jackson and a juvenile in connection with a Hixson robbery in which shots were fired.
Jesse Avery and Roy Roberson told police the robbery happened at 834 Monroe Road. They said they were planning to buy drugs and had called a man Roberson knew as "Hey Man".
Roberson and two black males picked up Avery at a BP station on Hixson Pike and began driving around. The driver stopped the silver Ford Focus at the Monroe Road address, pulled out a handgun and told Roberson to empty his pockets.
When Roberson handed over his wallet and cellphone, the driver fired a shot toward Roberson. The front-seat passenger then produced a handgun and told Avery to get out of the car. Avery also handed over his wallet and cellphone and began running toward Hixson Pike. A shot was fired at him that struck a nearby cleaners at the corner of Hixson Pike and Monroe.
The suspects then left in the Focus.
Roberson told police that the driver lived at 4518 Hixson Pike. Police found Jackson and the juvenile inside an apartment there. Inside the unit, officers found two handguns and also found the stolen cellphones. The batteries had been removed and the sim cars were immersed in a glass of water in an effort to destroy them.
Police said the juvenile gave a statement about the incident.
Charges included two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and possesion of a handgun.
