Sorry to read of the passing of Dr. Jim Henry. Dr. Henry entered Chattanooga High School in the fall of 1937. He became an outstanding football player and upon his graduation in 1940 received a scholarship to Ga Tech. Unfortunately like many of his generation his college career was interrupted by World War ll.
After WW ll and graduation, Dr. Henry decided to enter the educational field and had a remarkable record as a teacher, coach and principal at CHS and finally as superintendent of the Chattanooga City School System.
Dr. Henry was a charter inductee of the CHS Hall of Fame in 2009 and is the only person to be honored as both a student and faculty member. Most importantly he met his late wife Nancy in Miss Pryor's "H," home room.
RIP Dr. Jim Henry, you had a most remarkable life and were an inspiration to many young Dynamos.

Chairman, CHS Hall of Fame Committee

Douglas Jones is right on the mark, Dr. Henry was a remarkable man. And it wasn’t just the Dynamos who benefited from his presence. After Dr. Henry’s “retirement,” the students at Notre Dame High School had the privilege of being taught by him. He was, indeed, an inspiration.
I look back on my Notre Dame high school years and realize how fortunate we were to have role models like Dr. Henry and Jim Phifer - - men who understood both the world, and kids.
