Chittenden Lifts Covenant Volleyball Over Agnes Scott

Jessica Chittenden had 11 kills with four block assists to lead Covenant past GSAC rival Agnes Scott 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-17) on Tuesday night at Barnes Physical Education Center.

The win for Covenant is its ninth in the last ten matches and fourth in a row. It also gave head coach Heather Taylor her 101st career win. Taylor was honored before the match for her 100th victory which came on Saturday against Piedmont.

Chelsea Van Dyk added eight kills, while Pretoria den Boer chipped in with five.
Stephanie Kirkpatrick added 28 assists. Estes Carlson led Covenant (11-3, 4-0 GSAC) with eight digs.

Agnes Scott (6-5, 3-2 GSAC) hung with the Lady Scots in the first and third set. With the score tied at 22-22 in the first set, Covenant took the final three points thanks three straight Scotties errors. After the Lady Scots dominated the second set to go ahead 2-0, Covenant pulled ahead 15-6 in the third set and would cruise to the match win.

Morgan Bender led Agnes Scott with seven kills, with Claire Brummeler tallying 18 assists. Shellie Sherman and Brummeler each had five digs for the Scotties.

Covenant returns tomorrow when they face Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. Match time is set for 6:00 p.m.
