William Crowe Gives Piano Dedication Concert Sunday At Good Shepherd

A Piano Dedication Concert will be presented by William Crowe on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Scenic Highway at Franklin Road on Lookout Mountain.  The program is free and handicapped accessible.  A reception will follow.

A Piano Dedication Concert will be presented by William Crowe on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Scenic Highway at Franklin Road on Lookout Mountain.  The program is free and handicapped accessible.  A reception will follow.   

Mr. Crowe, a graduate of the UT School of Music, will be joined by Ms. Chelsea Marlowe, voice for several selections.  For additional information call 821-1583 or visit www.goodshepherdlookout.com   Works by Haydn, Janacek, Rachmaninoff and others will be presented.

As a UT Kline Scholar, Presser Scholar, and winner of the 2009 UT National Piano Scholarship Competition, Mr. Crowe has received recognition as a gifted musician and representative of the University of Tennessee’s School of Music program.  During his studies as an undergraduate, Mr. Crowe won numerous music awards including the 2012 UT Celebration of Excellence Competition, the 2011 UT Concerto Competition, the Music Teachers Study Club Scholarship Competition in 2010, the 2009 National Piano Scholarship Competition (Kline Scholar), the Mark and Kirk Elvey Memorial Scholarship, and the Music Teachers of Greater Annapolis Competition Award.  For two summers, Mr. Crowe participated in InterHarmony’s International Music Festival located in Swartzwald, Germany where he premiered as a young artist.  His continued goal is to distinguish himself as a solo music artist, resulting in a career as a professional concert pianist.

Guest performer on some selections for the program will be Ms. Marlowe, who is currently a sophomore undergraduate majoring in vocal performance at the University of Tennessee Knoxville campus. Ms. Marlowe has already participated in UT Opera Theater as assistant director during “The Marriage of Figaro” which premiered last spring in the Carrousel Theater. After completing her studies, Ms. Marlowe would like to perform in classical opera and later use her musical skills to teach in the area of special education.
