Chris Anderson, candidate for Chattanooga City Council District 7, has picked up papers from the Hamilton County Election Commission.
Mr. Anderson, who announced his candidacy in May, officially picked up papers to run for Chattanooga City Council in District 7 on Thursday morning.
“This is the next step in an election that's all about safe streets, good jobs, and strong neighborhoods. I've been humbled and inspired by the support I've received from the community during the early stages of this campaign," Mr. Anderson said, noting the issues facing the district. "Throughout my district, people are telling me that they want better representation, someone who holds their values and fights for their interests. I believe in that kind of public service; it's more than just showing up, it's a commitment to responsible and transparent leadership."
He said he was "entering the race with a significant base of support, and is an early leader. Not only raising more financial support than my opponent has raised an entire election cycle, our campaign has noted its commitment to grassroots support and outreach."
"This campaign is going to be about the citizens and residents of the district. That means we're going to be knocking on doors, making phone calls, and really talking about the issues over the coming months," said Joda Thongnopnua, campaign coordinator for the Anderson campaign. "It's been incredible to see the groundswell of all the volunteers, donors, and supporters who are coming together to make this all possible, it really emphasizes how important this election is."
Mr. Anderson's campaign "plans on staying focused on the issues, discussing the critical concerns that impact real people in his district and across the City of Chattanooga. More campaign events will be announced in the coming weeks, specifically focusing on community growth and policy," it was stated.
Manny Rico is the District 7 incumbent.
