Burgan Wins Tennessee-Mid Amateur Golf Title

Friday, September 28, 2012

JACKSON, Tenn. -- Todd Burgan of Powell led after every round of the 25th Tennessee Mid-Amateur Championship and recorded is second straight Mid-Amateur to follow up last year’s victory at Cleveland Country Club.

After his stellar 5-under par round one performance in heavy winds at Jackson Country Club, Burgan led by three strokes over Jackson native Danny Green. Another solid performance in round two separated Burgan by two more shots from par and kept him ahead of Green by three.

Burgan’s third round got off to a blistering start with birdies at both the par-4 first and par-4 second hole. After a front side 4-under par 32 Burgan was able to put his game on cruise control and would card a back side even-par 36 and a final round of 4-under par 68. Burgan’s 67-70-68 finish for a 205 total placed him eight strokes ahead of the field.

Burgan was trailed by Danny Green and Matt Cooper (Memphis) at 3-under par 213. Kevin Watford of Franklin, TN was the only other man to shoot 68 today and finish at 1-under par 215 for fourth place.

Roy Exum: So How Am I Really Doing?

I’ve gotten hundreds of jokes since Tuesday when I wrote about feeling a little puny lately and expressing my belief that laughter is the best medicine.
