Police said Brian Jay Pruitt was caught with a bag of cash shortly after a holdup at the Family Dollar on East Third Street.
Pruitt, 19, of 1502 Milne St., is charged with aggravated robbery, reckless endangerment and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
In the incident late Wednesday, employees said two black males entered the store and pointed loaded pistols toward them. Some $1,000 in cash was placed inside a yellow Family Dollar plastic bag and the pair ran out with the money.
Police quickly set up a perimeter near the store, including the use of K-9 dogs.
Pruitt was found hiding behind a house on Sharp Street. The bag of cash was on the ground beside him. A gray sweatshirt and a .45 caliber handgun were nearby.
Police said Pruitt discussed his involvement in the case prior to asking for a lawyer.
