A Chattanooga doctor has been charged with going to Rossville for the purpose of having sex with a child.
Dr. Vikul Patel, 35, was caught in an online sting by the Northwest Georgia Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Patel was arrested Sunday afternoon in Rossville.
Acting Special Agent in Charge Ricky Maxwell said Patel drove across the state line to "meet a minor child for purposes of having sex." He said the doctor of internal medicine had begun a series of “chats” with undercover agents/officers regarding his desire to have sex with a minor child.
He was taken to the Walker County Detention Center.
He faces state charges of attempted child molestation and violation of the Computer Pornography Act.
