Hanna, Brenner Are Among Young Performers At Southside Casual Classics

Southside Casual Classics presents “September Surprise” on Monday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Organizers said, "It will be a wonderful night to come out and support our 'young' local talent. We have a number of students who will be performing solo and/or ensemble pieces. These students are middle school to early high school age, and are our future musicians. Please come to cheer them on."

Below is information on two of the performers!  Look for more details to follow:

Gretchen Hanna is an eighth grader at the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences.  She has been involved in music activities since kindergarten and was in the Chattanooga Girls Choir for three years.  Last year Gretchen participated in both the ETSBOA Jr. Clinic and All-County Band.  Besides playing her clarinet, Gretchen enjoys archery, horseback riding and reading and has received recognition by Duke and Vanderbilt for her academic achievements.

Kelcy Brenner has been playing clarinet for three years, and studies with Nick Hartline.  She is a freshman at Ooltewah High school, where she is in the marching band, and is section leader for the clarinets. Kelcy is also in the Chattanooga Youth Symphony Orchestra.  She loves listening to different music genres, such as rock/metal and pop.  Her favorite bands are A Day To Remember and Skillet.

Man Stabbed To Death After Argument

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night. At approximately 11 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a stabbing at 101 E 20 th St. where they found the victim, Alexis Lewis, 51, lying on the walkway with a fatal stab wound to his chest.
