Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire early Wednesday morning at 806 Line Street. A neighbor was the first to notice the fire and called 911 Communications shortly before 1 a.m.
Battalion Chief Fredrick Blake said flames were shooting out a bedroom window when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. The firefighters quickly made their way inside and got the fire out in about 10 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Chief Blake said the residents, a mother and child, were not home at the time of the fire, but they were located a short time later. Volunteers with the American Red Cross were called in to provide assistance the victims.
The dollar loss was estimated at $21,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
