Delta Air Lines brought mainline service back to the Chattanooga Airport Wednesday with the evening arrival of its 125-seat DC 9-50 jet.
The new mainline flight is currently scheduled to depart Chattanooga at 6:45 a.m. and return to Chattanooga at 8 p.m. daily through early 2013.
Chattanooga Airport President Terry Hart said the economic growth of the region and the airline’s need to cut back on smaller planes created a perfect opportunity to bring mainline jets back to the city. “We hope Chattanooga will continue to benefit from this fleet strategy in the coming months,” he said.
Airport officials said Delta offers 11 daily flights from the Chattanooga Airport - nine flights to Atlanta and two flights to Detroit.
