The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera chorus will hold auditions for the 2012-2013 season on Sept. 21, starting at 6 p.m. in the Tivoli Theatre Dance Studio.
Hailed as “phenomenal with incredible energy and careful attention to vocal and instrumental detail” by the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Chorus is devoted to creating exceptional music. This volunteer chorus includes professional and amateur musicians from the Tri-State Region and has been performing for over 50 years. The CSO Chorus repertoire ranges from La Boheme to The Music of Queen. This season, the chorus will join the CSO for performances at a Veteran’s Day concert in November, the annual Home for the Holidays concert in December, and the Verdi Requiem in March.
Darrin Hassevoort, CSO Director of Choruses, has led the CSO chorus for over 10 seasons. Mr. Hassevoort is an Associate Professor of Music at Chattanooga State and also serves as the Interim Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts. He has performed as a soloist with Choral Arts of Chattanooga, The Chattanooga Theatre Centre, Cartersville Opera, and has twice performed the role of King Kaspar in the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera’s performance of Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Singers should prepare two contrasting selections, with one preferably, though not mandatory, in a foreign language. An accompanist will be provided. For more information or to schedule an audition, contact CSO Chorus Administrator Mary Lynn Wilson at 304-1535 or marylynnwilson55@yahoo.com.
