Police Blotter: Woman Tries To Hide T-Bones Under Wheelchair

Police said a woman who tried to hide T-bone steaks under her wheelchair was arrested at the Brainerd Walmart.

Amanda Williams was spotted trying to leave with six of the steaks valued at $93.10, police said.

She was taken to jail and charged with theft under $500.

She told officers she had not eaten lately and was hungry.

Suzanne Peterson of Hillcrest Lane said someone got into two vehicles at her residence.

The glove boxes were emptied and a $300 tool set was moved, but it was found in grass nearby.

A woman on E. 13th Street said her car was also broken into.

A CD player was taken. To get it, the entire center dash was pulled out.

Jeremy Womble reported a break-in at a vacant house he was remodeling on Slayton Avenue.

Thieves got $1,565 in items, including an aluminum ladder, a texture sprayer, paint sprayer and window air conditioner.  


Police Work 6 Robberies, 46, Burglaries, 1 Rape May 2-8

Chattanooga Police worked six robberies, 46 burglaries and one rape in the period May 2-8. Robberies were at 3838 Rae Trail, Washington Alternative School at 7821 Hancock Road, Big Daddy's at 3901 Dodds Ave., 4555 Tricia Dr., Wendy's on Brainerd Road, and Kangaroo Express at 600 Ashland Terrace.   Burglaries were at 1306 Woodhill Dr., 805 Brynwood ... State Medical Board Puts Down Fines Against DesJarlais For Sex With Patients

The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners has assessed fines against Congressman Scott DesJarlais for being a medical doctor and having sexual relations with two patients. A 7-page consent order said the incidents occurred in 2000. He was fine $250 each for the two patients. Also, he must pay up to $1,000 for costs of the investigation.
