A couple has been arrested after a man told police he had some 300 DVDs worth $4,500 stolen, and he found a portion of them at McKay's on Lee Highway. McKay's personnel said the DVDs were bought from Jason and Elizabeth Schoate (for $299.47 in cash and $77.54 in trade).
Jason Schoate, 35, and Elizabeth Schoate, 33, were charged with aggravated burglary and three theft counts.
William Lewis Sutton said the burglary at his home on Highway 58 occurred on Aug. 25. He said he also is missing 20 Playstation 3 games worth $1,200, a telescope valued at $300, a Winchester rifle worth $300 and approximately $300 in cash.
He said he talked with his mother, Juanita Sutton, about the burglary. She told him the previous day she was at the Family Dollar on Highway 58 when Ms. Schoate asked her for money. She said she gave her $20. She said Ms. Schoate asked if Mr. Sutton was still living at his grandmother's house.
Mr. Sutton said some of his DVDs are still missing.
Police said some of the other missing items were possibly located at a pawn shop in Cleveland, Tn.
