Alexander Says Jobs Report Is Disappointing News

Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tn.) on Friday released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ August jobs report:

“It is disappointing news that nearly 400,000 Americans dropped out of the workforce last month, bringing the participation rate to its lowest level since 1981. We need to lower tax rates and reduce the debt to get the economy moving again.”

Tennessee Unemployment Rates Down In 62 Counties, Up In 23, And No Change In 10

County unemployment rates in Tennessee for April 2013, released Thursday, show the rate decreased in 62 counties, increased in 23, and stayed the same in ten. Specific county information is available here . Knox County had the state’s lowest major metropolitan rate of 6.4 percent, up from 6.2 percent in March.
