The Dark Knight Rises On The Six-Story Screen At Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater Sept 14

Friday, September 07, 2012

Special screenings of “The Dark Knight Rises” are coming to the giant screen at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater beginning Sept. 14. Batman fans will finally have the opportunity to see the epic conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy as filmmaker Christopher Nolan intended – using large format film projected onto a HUGE screen.

“We got great results with the IMAX cameras on the last film,” said Christopher Nolan, the film’s director. “I appreciate what it offers from the technical side, but I’m most interested in what it can give me as a storytelling tool. How can it help me pull the audience deeper into this world? IMAX provides the broadest possible canvas, creating the most immersive experience.”

Nearly half of the movie was shot with the large-format IMAX cameras, utilizing ultra resolution film. “It is very important to me that we show 'The Dark Knight Rises' in the IMAX film format wherever possible,” said Mr. Nolan. “I hope anyone who has an opportunity to experience the film in these theaters will seek it out.”  When shown in theaters like the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater, audiences enjoy about 30 minutes of “bonus” images that fill the six-story screen from top to bottom in high-resolution.
