Polk County Overpowers CCS 54-14

Polk County's Justin Brown had two touchdown receptions in the first quarter and threw for a two point conversion on one to lead the Wildcats to a 54-14 win over Chattanooga Christian. 

 Brown also kicked four extra points. He had 102 yards on just three receptions. 

Polk County rushed for 369 yards. Zach Miller led the team with 103 yards on 12 carries.  Ryan Rowland had 64 yards on 6 carries. 

Duncan Coffey was four of six passing for 130 yards and three touchdown passes.

Polk County led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter and 41-6 at the half.

CCS quarterback Levi Corbett was 16 of 33 for 106 yards.  Austin Mansell had 11 receptions for 69 yards including 1 touchdown.  Jay Sims rushed for 50 yards on five carries. 

 CCS falls to 0-4 on the season and Polk County evens its record to 2-2.

Lee's Matthews, Bryan Earn NAIA All-American Track Honors

Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital by LifeForce helicopter about 3:15 a.m. The driver was transported by Hamilton County EMS. It is believed he had non-life threatening injuries. ... City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
