Sunday, September 09, 2012

With the release of the AP Top 25 poll on Sunday, Tennessee received its first national ranking since the first week of the 2008 season, coming in at No. 23 with 177 votes.

The last time the Vols were ranked was in the 2008 preseason AP Poll, when UT was 18th prior to losing to UCLA in the season opener. This week's ranking snaps a stretch of 64 consecutive weeks in which it was not ranked.

The Big Orange also received 71 votes in this week's USA Today Coaches Poll, placing them fourth among teams receiving votes and 29th overall.

In the most recent AP Poll, six SEC teams are currently ranked in the top 25 with four in the top 10. The USA Today Coaches Poll also has six SEC teams among its top-25. Three additional SEC teams received votes in one or both polls this week as well. Here is a rundown of the SEC teams in the two polls:

South Carolina (8/9)
Florida (18/17)
TENNESSEE (23/RV)

Roy Exum: So How Am I Really Doing?

I’ve gotten hundreds of jokes since Tuesday when I wrote about feeling a little puny lately and expressing my belief that laughter is the best medicine.
