Willard Eugene Sweeton, 82, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at a local hospital. 

A native of Coalmont, Tn., he was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area.

Willard was retired from Signal Mountain Cement Company. He was a Mason, a member of Hill City Lodge and a Shriner. Willard loved to dance and most of all he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Sweeton; a daughter, Dyana Sweeton; parents, Lawrence and Margie Burnette Sweeton; a brother, Raymond Sweeton; sister, Geraldine Sweeton; and by a brother and a sister who died in infancy.

Survivors include a son, Danny (Kim) Sweeton; granddaughters, Christi Burger and Morgan Sweeton; grandsons, Roger, Ben and Taylor Sweeton; great-grandchildren Madison and Makensi Sweeton; sisters, Mabel (Ronnie) Scissom, Sue Woodlee and Leena May (Lewis) Brown and brothers, James (Alice) Sweeton, Harvey (Dorothy) Sweeton and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of The Bridge at South Pittsburg for their compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Kent Kressenberg officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
