Foster And Adoptive Parent Course Starts Jan. 29

Centerstone in Hamilton County has announced a new set of dates for their Parents as Tender Healers certification courses – classes that are required by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services for all potential foster and adoptive parents in Tennessee.  

The 12 courses, which will be held in the Centerstone offices at 6110 Shallowford Road, Ste B., will take place every Tuesday evening, beginning Jan. 29 and ending in April.

PATH is designed to equip parents with a fundamental knowledge and understanding of the child welfare system, effective discipline, first aid and CPR, medication administration and other physical and emotional needs their adoptive or foster children may have. 

Class dates/times are as follows:

Tuesday, Jan. 29, 6-9 p.m. Orientation

Tuesday, Feb. 5, 6-9 p.m. Child Welfare System

Tuesday, Feb. 12, 6-9 p.m.  Impact of Trauma

Tuesday, Feb. 19, 6-9 p.m. Effective Discipline

Tuesday, Feb. 26, 6-9 p.m.  Expert Panel/Cultural

Tuesday, March 5, 6-9 p.m. Medication Admin

Tuesday, March 12, 5:30-9:30  CPR/First Aid

Tuesday, March 19, 5:30-9:30 p.m.   Circle of Courage

Tuesday, March 26, 6-9 p.m. Parenting Youth

Tuesday, April 2, 6-9 p.m.  Parenting Youth

Tuesday, April 9, 6-9 p.m.  Parenting Youth

Tuesday, April 16, 6-9 p.m. Documentation/Policies

Home In Ooltewah Damaged By Fire Caused By Lightning Strike Sunday Afternoon

A home in Ooltewah was damaged by fire early Sunday afternoon.
