East Ridge Police Say Teen Has Made Numerous Threats

The East Ridge Police Department said it was made aware of through various sources of "an individual that made threats of violence toward children, various public officials, and the community."

Officials said at an East Ridge City Council meeting on Thursday night that the individual had just been released from a mental facility.

East Ridge investigators who have been assigned to look into the matter identified the prson as Russell Gearing, 18.

Officials said, "During the course of this investigation city officials and police felt the threats to be of such a nature that the decision was made to notify the surrounding homes and business including Spring Creek Elementary School to be-on-the-look-out for Mr.

Gearing. Citizens were encouraged to notify police if they encountered Mr. Gearing. To date Mr. Gearing has not acted on any threats he has made."
