Fred Karnes, 79, of Rossville, died on Friday, January 11, 2013 in a local hospital.

He was a native of the Kankakee Bradley area in Illinois and had lived in the Rossville area for 40 years. Fred played bass guitar with the County Travelers Band. Passions of his life include country music, playing his guitar, family and his dogs “Little Girl” and “Minnie.”

He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie Karnes, parents, Lemuel and Violet Karnes, and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his children, Yvonne Karnes, Indiana, Freddy Joe Karnes, Illinois, Daniel Karnes, Ohio, and Betty Jean Hair, Florida; ex-wife and caregiver, Anna Mae Karnes; ex-wife, Shirley Gillespie; brothers and sisters, Edward Karnes, Alabama, Alfred Karnes, Washington, Joyce Delvany, Arkansas, Jean McDowell, Janice Karnes, and Conrad Karnes, all of Illinois; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Gwendolyn A. Faye Douthit Williams passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Faye was born in Blanche, Tn., Lincoln County on October 8, 1939, to Bill and Vangie Douthit.
