Amos Sparks, Sr., 83, died on January 13, 2013 at a local health care facility.  

Amos was formerly employed at Mueller Company.  He was of Baptist faith. His hobbies include riding motorcycles and traveling. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Idella Sparks; mother, Carrie James.

He is survived by his five children, Amos Sparks, Jr., Chattanooga; Carolyn (Edgar) Dillard, Chattanooga; Carol Lumpkin, Ringgold; Marcus (Bonnie) Sparks, Colonial Beach, VA; Gloria (Willie) Bone, Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Terrell, Los Angeles; Ruby (Arthur) Murphy, Phoenix; Gladys (General) Winston, West Point, GA, and Jenell (Johnny) Owens, Lanett, AL; a host of nieces and nephews and ex-wife, Margaret Sparks.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, at Forest Hills Cemetery with Pastor Edward Ellis officiating.

The body will lie in state after noon on Thursday, Jan. 17, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
