World War II Veteran Held Several Positions With County School System

John C. Turcotte, 90, of East Ridge, Tennessee, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Signal Corps during WWII.

John received his master's degree in education from Boston University

Prior to moving to Chattanooga he was program director at the YMCA at Burlington, VT.

He was associated with the Hamilton County School System from 1953 to 1985 and served as Health and Physical Education teacher, guidance counselor and assistant principal.

He was a former member of the Chattanooga Civitan Club and Concord Golf Club.

He was a member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church for over 56 years. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Virginia Turcotte.

Survivors include his son, Jack Turcotte and his wife, Patricia of Dayton, Ohio; daughter, Mary Clarke and her husband Jeff of Hixson; three grandchildren, Courtney, Hollie and Ashley; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Connor, Katelyn, Jackson and Alyssa. He will be sadly missed by his Yorkie, Harley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18,  at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church with the Reverend Randy Martin, the Reverend Larry Dial and the Reverend Mark Womack officiating.  Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 S. Moore Road and at the church from 10:30–11 a.m. on Friday.

Edna Hawkins Floyd, 88, of Fort Oglethorpe, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in a local health care facility. Lymorris Martin, 59, Stabbed To Death; Rachel Green, 51, Is Arrested

Chattanooga Police responded to the 3200 block of Broad Street early Sunday morning to a person who had been stabbed.   Upon arrival, officers with the Chattanooga Police Department located Lymorris Martin, 59, who had received multiple stab wounds.
