Throughout the month of February 2013:

Community Health:  Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening.  Free screening to detect bulge in artery wall.  For men and women 65 or older, no previous diagnosis of abdominal aortic aneurysm, and no abdominal CT in the past five years. Memorial Hospital Glenwood, Memorial Hospital Hixson and Memorial Ooltewah.  Registration and appointment required.  Call 495-6000 for information and to schedule an appointment.

Feb. 1

Diabetes:   Diabetes Self-Management Program.  This program provides an overview of diabetes and treatment/prevention of complications, diabetes meal planning and carbohydrate counting.  Memorial’s Diabetes and Nutrition Center can help you obtain a physician’s referral and provide cost information.  Diabetes and Nutrition Center at Memorial Hospital.  8:45 am – 2:30 pm. Registration required at 495-7970. 

Feb. 1

Mammography: Memorial Health Care System’s Mobile Health Coach to provide mammogram screenings.  Women age 40 and over who have not had a mammogram in the last 12 months are eligible with or without insurance. Location: Volunteers in Medicine, 5705 Martin Rd – 5900 Building Eastgate Center, Chattanooga, TN 37411. Times: 9 am to 4 pm. To schedule an appointment call 423-855-8220 ext. 5.

Feb. 6

Weight Loss:  Bariatric Seminar.   Attend this FREE informative seminar to learn more about the Gastric Bypass Roux-en-Y and gastric banding weight loss procedures.  This seminar is geared specifically towards individuals who are at least 100 pounds overweight.  6 pm – 7:30 pm, Memorial Hospital Community Rooms.  Call 495-2245 for reservations.

Alzheimer’s Association Support Group Coming To Rhea County

The Alzheimer’s Association support group in Rhea County will hold its kickoff meeting on Tuesday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. at The Veranda Assisted Living Community. Alzheimer’s Association Education Liaison, Wendy Winters, will be the guest speaker for the initial meeting. Cleveland, Tn., Woman Missing Since 2011 Turns Up In Mississippi

A Cleveland, Tn., woman who had been missing since 2011 was found Tuesday in Mississippi. The Biloxi Sun Herald said 50-year-old Tammy Renee King, was walking along Mississippi 613 when a citizen stopped to help her. The Good Samaritan called the sheriff's office.
