Mitch McClure Speaks On "I've Been Thinking About It - I'm Gonna Worship God!" On Sunday

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Middle Valley Church of God, at 1703 Thrasher Pike in Hixson, announced that it has adopted the theme, "A Thinking Church," for the month of January.

Pastor Mitch McClure said, "As we enter the new year, most individuals make goals and resolutions relative to their lives. These include exercise, diet, work habits, and, even their spiritual life. It is our plan to encourage those who attend Middle Valley to think about their relationship with God as we enter the new year. I shall be preaching specially developed sermons each week in January."

Pastor McClure will speak on the topic, "I've Been Thinking About It I'm Gonna Worship God!" in the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday. Pastor McClure will lead the church in a time of prayer and Bible reading in the 6:30 p.m. service on Sunday, in conjunction with the READ Initiative developed by the Church of God.  READ encourages all believers to concentrate on reading the Bible completely in 2013.  Middle Valley is participating in this initiative.

Each Wednesday at 7 p.m., classes are made available for all age groupings. Pastor McClure is presently leading a Bible study on Grace. This study is partially based on a book by Dr. David Jeremiah and is titled Captured by Grace.

Sunday School is available each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with classes for all age groupings.

Middle Valley Church of God was founded in 1946 and has served the Middle Valley community from the same location concentrating on community ministry with various ministry partnerships.  For additional information, please contact Pastor McClure at 423 843-1539.  Pastor McClure can also be followed on Facebook and Twitter.

Bob Tamasy: "Virtue" Expelled By Virtual Reality?

When was the last time you heard someone speaking about “virtue”? Have you used the term recently yourself? Hardly anyone talks about virtue these days. There just doesn’t seem to be much demand for it. So what in the world is virtue, anyway, since it’s become so rare in the public consciousness? One dictionary defines it as “conformity to a standard of right or a particular ... (click for more)

Bob Tamasy: Facing The Greatest Danger

Can we all agree that we live in troubled, troubling times? I have a friend, typically an optimist, who admits he’s become quite bothered by the turmoil in our nation and around the world. So much so that he now quips, “I’m very optimistic – I’m positive things are going to get worse!” As a society, we seem more disconnected than ever. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to ... Beck Upset By Criticism Of Late WWTA Director Cleveland Grimes In WWTA Analysis; Boyd Won't Rewrite 57-Page Report

County Commissioner Greg Beck said it was inappropriate for fellow Commissioner Tim Boyd to include articles critical of the late Cleveland Grimes in a 57-page report on the Hamilton County Water and Wastewater Treatment Authority. He said, "Criticizing a dead man - I don't know if that's appropriate. If that's Christianity, let me off the wagon." Saying the report should ... (click for more)

Judge Steelman Was Unfairly Criticized In Handling Of School Bus Driver Rape Case - And Response

We are blessed to have freedom of speech in our society, but I am always amazed at the number of folks who voice such strong antagonistic opinions about things without any apparent first-hand knowledge.   As any who wish to criticize the system should know, people get arrested and charged for criminal offenses every day.  The ultimate charge and penalty which results ... Roy Exum: Vote For Rhonda Thurman

After studying the Hamilton County School Board quite harshly during the last seven most-tumultuous months in its history, it is only proper that I share my belief that Rhonda is its Most Valuable Player. Four of the school board’s nine members are up for re-election, with Rhonda facing capable opponents in Jason Moses and Dr. Patti Skates in District 1, but let’s never forget that ... (click for more)
