A man who had served time in federal prison on drug charges and who had an eight-year state sentence on a similar charge will now have to serve the latter sentence.
Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman on Tuesday ordered Larone Daniel to serve the 2010 drug selling conviction that had been suspended earlier.
While on suspended sentence, Daniel's vehicle was stopped. Inside were both crack and powder cocaine, a set of scales, a gun and almost $30,000 in cash.
Judge Steelman said some of Daniel's family members have done well in life, "but he's a drug dealer. That's what he chose to pursue."
The judge took under advisement the issue of whether or not the search of the vehicle should be declared invalid. But he said that would not have an effect on revoking his probation.
