Billy Connie Smith, 69, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Friday January 18, 2013, at Redmond Regional Medical Center. 

Mr. Smith was born November 9, 1943, in Gaylesville, Al., the son of the late Frank and Bessie Nicholson Smith. He was retired from Mt Vernon Mills where he worked in the steam plant, and he was a member of the New Spirit and Truth of Jesus Christ Church.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Joyce Smith, children, Billy Trelane Smith, Kelvin Ray Morrison, Mimi Reshelle Morrison, Melissa Smith, sisters, Lorene Cothran, Ernestine Brand, Charlotte Silmon, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop V.T. Hardin officiating, with interment in the Allgood Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Terry Silmon, Tommy Smith, John Silmon Ronald Brand, Kevin Christopher, Fitzgerald Christopher.

Mr. Smith will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends on Friday, from noon until the service hour. 


Heuser, Valetta Jean (Rock Spring)

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Mrs. Heuser was a charter member of Ft.
