Miller & Martin Attorneys Marcy Eason And Craig Smith Recognized As Leaders By Chattanooga Bar Association

Miller & Martin attorneys Craig Smith and Marcia Eason were honored at the Chattanooga Bar Association annual luncheon on Wednesday. 

Mr. Smith was installed as the new president, being sworn in by former partner, The Honorable Shelley Rucker, U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge. In 2008, Mr. Smith served as president of the Chattanooga Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. He was the recipient of the Chattanooga Bar Association’s Young Lawyer of the Year award in 2008 and the President’s Award in 2011. Mr. Smith has served on the Board of Governors since 2009. Mr. Smith concentrates his practice in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights and Litigation.

Ms. Eason received the Ralph H. Kelly Humanitarian Award, which is given to that member of the legal profession or judicial officer who in the opinion of the Board of Governors has displayed exemplary service to the community of Chattanooga by civic, professional and/or other activities directed toward improvement and preservation of the lives, property and dignity of its citizens.  Miller & Martin attorney Virginia Anne Sharber, a previous recipient of the award, served as the presenter.  Ms. Eason has served as chairwoman and in numerous roles for charitable organizations including A.I.M. Center, Chattanooga Kids on the Block and United Way of Greater Chattanooga.  She is a former president of the Tennessee Bar Association and a current member of the Tennessee Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission. She was also inducted into the first Legal Aid of East Tennessee’s Pro Bono Hall of Fame in 2011.  Ms. Eason concentrates her practice on civil litigation with an emphasis on commercial litigation, lender liability, products liability. She has been involved in complex litigation since 1985, including failed banks and class actions.
