Leona Cheek Park, 87, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at her home under the care of Hospice of Chattanooga.  

She was born June 10, 1925 in Delano, Tn., to the late Arthur and Myrtle Cheek. 

She was a 1943 graduate of Polk County High School, a graduate of the Baroness Erlanger Nursing Program, and was a retired registered nurse from TVA after 13 years of service. She also attended the Chicago School of Interior Design.

Mrs. Park was a longtime member of Concord Baptist Church and the Open Door Sunday School Class of which her husband is the Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Henry Park; son-in-law, Robert D. Baker; grandson, Robby Baker; and two brothers, Hubert Cheek and Joseph L. Cheek.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, J Frank Park, Sr.; one daughter, Susan P. Baker of Ooltewah; two sons, J Franklin, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Apison, and Jody Park of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren, Jenny, Jamie, Erin, Amy, Mike, Kasey, and Kyle; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Emily, Taylor and Nicholas; one sister, Delores C. Wilson and her husband, Kenneth of Knoxville; one brother, Eugene Cheek of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2:30 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Dr. David King and Reverend Jim Barclay officiating.  Burial will be in Benton Perpetual Care Cemetery in Benton, Tn.  

The family will receive friends from 12:30–2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 411 Oakwood Dr., Chattanooga, Tn. 37416; or the Alzheimer’s Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Dr., Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

Arrangements are by the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga.

Bishop, William Donald "Foots" (Summerville)

William Donald "Foots" Bishop, 73, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Bishop was born March 18, 1941, in Centre, AL, son of the late Hubert and Thelma Bishop. He was a member of the Faith Temple and worked as a carpenter. One driver was killed and another seriously injured in a Hixson Pike crash on Wednesday morning.
