Detectives with the Chattanooga Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit have arrested 30-year-old Andrew Morgan Hall for the stabbing of two J.C. Penney loss prevention specialists at Hamilton Place Mall on Thursday.

Police said both Heath Hoskins and Keith Langley later picked out Hall, of 1004 Hanover St., Apt. B, from a lineup of photos.

The incident was caught on video, and photos taken of the suspect were widely distributed soon after the attack.

Police were notified of the incident at 9:25 p.m. and were shown video footage of a white male in a red shirt, jeans and red shoes exiting a white Ford with Tennessee tag 166FZR. He then entered the mall at 9:05 p.m.

He can be seen on the video walking to the blue jeans section and taking 4-5 pairs of jeans valued at $25 each, then try to leave without paying.

After he was confronted by the two specialists, he ran outside. There was an altercation outside. Police said, "You can see one of the loss prevention specialists fall away from the altercation followed by the second loss prevention specialist running away from the defendant."

The suspect was then seen getting into a white car and leaving the mall.

Mr. Hoskins was stabbed in the right leg and right arm and Mr. Langley in the left abdomen.

Mr. Hoskins received emergency medical treatment and was released, while Mr. Langley was rushed into surgery and was hospitalized.

Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
