Woman Claims Fiancee Was Shot Without Provocation During Main Street Drug Deal

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

A Bradley County woman testified Tuesday that Quinisha Renee Brabson shot her fiancee without provocation during a late-night drug deal on Main Street on April 8, 2010.

Ms. Brabson is standing trial for second-degree murder in the courtroom of Judge Rebecca Stern.

She told police she shot at 50-year-old Timmy Nichols when she thought he was going to rape a female who was with her. She said the occupants of a vehicle appeared "geeked out."

Lisa Greenlief said she had gone with Nichols and Jeffery Young to buy drugs. She said they were out of money so they planned to trade a bottle of prescription pills for crack cocaine.

She said they headed for Main Street because "it's a wild place. It's a jungle out there. It's a drug place. It's where you get your drugs."

The witness said Ms. Brabson was dressed in a white shirt and dark pants as she approached the car in company with a man and a woman. She said Ms. Brabson was standing on a sidewalk near the driver's side when she shot Nichols.

Under cross-examination, Ms. Greenlief said she was still in shock from the incident and from a wreck afterward when she was first interviewed. She said then that the shooter was on the other side of the car.

After Nichols was shot, his vehicle accelerated and ran over a stop sign before slamming into a utility pole near the intersection of Main and Willow.

Dr. James Metcalfe, the county medical examiner, said the victim was shot in the back.

Officer Lauren Wenger said she was working her East Chattanooga district the night of the shooting and she went over to Main Street to help look for the shooter. She said she was about to give up and was headed back to her district when she spotted a woman in a white shirt and black pants with two other people. Ms. Brabson was then taken in for questioning.

Det. Michael Wenger said the gun used was never found. Ms. Brabson said she dropped it after the shooting. A woman who lives nearby told of that night seeing three people in her backyard looking for something. She said she hollered at them and they left.

Ms. Greenlief said she is bi-polar and stays off drugs. She acknowledged that Nichols was a cocaine addict. She said, "I tried to get him off of it."

She said of the shooting, "He just held the bottle (of pills) up. He didn't do anything to deserve what he got."

She added, "That girl right there shot my fiancee. He's dead because of her."

Ms. Brabson has remained in jail since the incident.

Scandals At Home And Abroad

Since my hip operation and time in recovery, I have tried to set aside things that are insignificant to me and to average Americans. Don't get me wrong here. What these people are doing (Bengahzi) is despicable be they left or right wing, and they have been doing it (both sides) for a long time. But the dirty deeds themselves carry little weight as to what they mean to you or me. ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: 50 Facts About Our Bodies

Maybe 20 years ago I became entranced by a book called “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.” It was co-authored by a surgeon, Paul Brand, and a Christian writer, Phillip Yancey, and gave one specific after another about the human body and how only God could have created such a miraculous machine. Today the book is a classic and I have marveled ever since over how unbelievable human ... (click for more)
