County Set To Approve Design Funding For Extending Riverwalk To Foot Of Lookout Mountain

Thursday, January 31, 2013

The County Commission will vote next Wednesday on approving funding for design of a new section of the Riverwalk taking it from Ross's Landing Park to the foot of Lookout Mountain.

Todd Leamon, public works administrator, said there are two different resolutions due to separate funding sources.

One increases the contract with Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon for the Lookout Mountain Extension at a cost of $261,470. It will cover basic design services and environmental permitting.

The design covers the section of trail from the former U.S. Pipe Property to St. Elmo. No county funds are required.

The other increases the contract with the same firm to include additional design services at a cost of $124,995. About $25,000 of the amount would come from private sources.

Mr. Leamon said an additional piece of property may be acquired that goes along the river near the Alstom property.
