Kathe Smith “Avon Lady”, 76, of Rossville, died on Friday, January 4, 2013.  

She was a native of Germany and had lived in the Chattanooga and Rossville area since 1963.  She was a well-known Avon representative having sold Avon in this area for over 40 years.  

She was preceded in death by her two sisters in Germany, and she was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her spouse, Amos Beason of Rossville; three children, Linda (Arlon) Brown of Ringgold, Ida (James) Rogers of Dayton, Tn., and Edwin Smith of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 6, from 2-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.

Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide."
