Fred Luther Smith, 96, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, January 4, 2013, in a local health care facility.
He was retired from Peerless Woolen Mills in Rossville, and Burlington Industries of Cleveland.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Myrtle Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jim and Doris Burke, Ray and Norma Pennington; brother, Clyde Smith; and daughter and son-in-law, Ed and Brenda Hixon.
Survivors are his wife, Inez Smith; brother and sister-in-law, John Allen and Jo Ann Smith; sister-in-law, Elda Smith; granddaughters, Kathy (Terry) Johnson, Michelle (Randy) Prior; grandson, Jathan (Vanessa) Mitchell; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Duke Stone and Reverend Doug Stephenson officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
