Longtime Member At 1st Presbyterian Was Active In Many Church Activities

Mary “Mazie” E. Cory, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2013.  She was 98.

Mrs. Cory was born in Chattanooga, and was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. She graduated from Chattanooga High School. Mrs. Cory was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, active in Women in the Church, and was a member of Nell Davis / Steve Bevil Sunday School Class.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Martin Cory; her parents, Ben E. and Lillian Burney Walraven and a sister, Dolores Riggs.

Mazie is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Leslie Cory and Michael and Lynne Cory; grandchildren, Matt and wife Wendy, Peter and wife Meghan, Hannah and husband Jason Bryan and Jeremiah Cory; and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga at 554 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37402. 

Services for Mrs. Cory will follow at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in the Chapel with Pastor Chris Ehlers officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Cory’s name to the World Mission Fund at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
