Lurlise Wilbur, 79, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, January 7, 2013.
She was a longtime member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a retiree of Olan Mills Studio.
She was also a well-known pianist, who used her calling by the Lord at Beulah Baptist, New Hope, Union Hill, Hamlett Chapel and Community Missionary Baptist. She was also a musician for the city’s local gospel group, the Gospel Odium..
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Willie Lee Wilbur; son, Macio Wilbur; brother, J. B. Wilbur and sister, Selena Gordon.
She is survived by daughters, Zelinda (Felton) Davis and Veronica (Rev. Ricky) Byrd; granddaughter, Deannie Blackmon; grandson, Dalen Byrd; great-grandsons, Troy and Quinton Elder; beloved sister, Eunice Wilbur; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, Jan. 11, and the family will receive friends from 7–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
