Soddy Daisy Fall Festival Is Saturday

The city of Soddy Daisy and Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 942 will host the Soddy Daisy Fall Festival and first annual Soddy Daisy “Great Punkin Chase,” benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on Saturday. The free festival begins at 10 a.m. and will feature crafts, food, games for all ages.

The course is flat and fast running along the beautiful countryside of Soddy Daisy. The 5K is a competitive running event with age/gender categories and awards for each. The one-mile fun walk is a non-competitive event and will not be timed. 

“Everyone for miles around says we have the best 4th of July festival,” said Robert Cothran, president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 942. “We want to have the best fall festival around too. We want to show people what it’s like here and show off Soddy Daisy.”

Classic Car Swap Meet: old cars and a car parts swap meet will be held by locals

Fireworks at Soddy Lake will conclude the event.

Proceeds raised will assist the VVA help disabled veterans, provide three scholarships, fund Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Soddy Daisy and Sale Creek schools and provide food for the Soddy Daisy Food Bank.

NOTE: The city will allow camping around the waterfront, but campers must contain their fire. 

Boat owners will be allowed to park their boats on Soddy Lake at the festival.

TDOT Halts Lane Closures On Tennessee Highways For Labor Day Weekend

2 Missing Soddy Daisy Children Found Safe After Large Search

Two missing Soddy Daisy children were found Wednesday morning after a large search for the brother and sister, ages 4 and 7. The children were located at 811 Sluder Road about two miles from their residence. According to Soddy Daisy Police Department, the children were in good condition.
