A vacant house on Green Pond Road was destroyed by fire on Friday afternoon.
Neighbors called 911 at 4:30 p.m. reporting a house fire at 2127 Green Pond Road. Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting a fully involved fire and requested a Mutual Aid response. Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department and Soddy Daisy Fire Department responded to the scene to assist Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department.
According to the neighbors, no one lived at the residence for over a year. The homeowner, Bonnie McFarland, has been deceased for a year.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
The house is a total loss and valued at $50,000.
No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries.
