Size and precision helped Georgia Northwestern earn a split versus a pair of NCCAA Women’s Volleyball programs in a Tri-Match Friday night at the Rossville Athletic Complex (R.A.C.).
Six-foot-one sophomore Lady Bobcat Holly Mount (Heritage) drove home a dozen kills and six blocks while freshman Rachel McGill (Ringgold) locked in for eight aces, five kill shots, and 25 assists in best-of-three matches versus Trinity Baptist (FL) and Tennessee Temple.
The Lady Cats would snap a four-match slide with the opener Friday dropping Trinity Baptist 22-25, 25-18, 25-15. However, it would be best-of-three defeat at the hands of Tennessee Temple, 6-25, 25-23, 7-25.
Georgia Northwestern (5-12) will play the road end of a home and away set with Hiwassee College on Monday night at Youell Gymnasium in Madisonville, Tennessee. The Lady Cats swept the home side of the set on September 13, three-games-to-none.
The Lady Cats will close out the 2013 campaign at The R.A.C. with what will be the most anticipated match of the season for Georgia Northwestern Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Carrie Powell.
Oakwood University (AL) will take the trip from Huntsville to take on the Lady Cats. The Lady Ambassadors escaped Huntsville’s Elmore Gymnasium on October 15 with a best-of-five match that went the distance, 25-20, 25-16, 16-25, 19-25, 20-22.
