-- Coming off an impressive week, junior forward Snoopy Davidson has been named USA South Offensive Player of the Week, announced the league on Monday afternoon.
Davidson is the third Covenant player to earn the weekly conference honor this season (Shuler Polk, Sept. 2 and Joel Friesen, Sept. 23).
The junior from Rome, Ga., put together one of the best weeks in recent memory for a Covenant men's soccer player. He had five goals and three assists in three matches on the week as the Scots went 2-0-1. Davidson scored both goals in a 2-0 win at Emory & Henry, then had the game-tying score in the second half of a 2-2 draw with Methodist on Friday. In front of a capacity crowd for Homecoming on Saturday night, Davidson scored two goals and added three assists in the Scots' 5-1 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan.
With his effort on Saturday night, Davidson became the first Covenant player to tally at least two goals and two assists in a match since Julian Allgeier accomplished the feat on Oct. 9, 2010. Fittingly enough, Allgeier's performance also came on Homecoming night.
Covenant travels to Montgomery, Ala., on Wednesday afternoon to take on Huntingdon. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. eastern time.
