Grace Heads To District Finals Thursday

The Lady Golden Eagles took a 3-1 semifinal win over Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, Tuesday evening.

Ashley McGee scored for CSAS early in the second half to tie the score 1-1.

Emily Clark connected with Danielle Shumaker in the first half to give Grace the 1-0 lead going into half time.

Clark and Shumaker connected again in the second half as Grace went up 2-1. Danielle took the hat trick and the final goal with an assist from Maddie Ferrell and sealed the 3-1 win.

Abby Bosco had three saves for Grace.

The Lady Golden Eagles will face McMinn Central Thrusday at 6 p.m. for the Distirct 5 A/AA championship.



Grace Wins 2-1 Over Silverdale In District Soccer

Maddie Ferrel scored both Grace Baptist Academy's two goals Friday night to earn a key Division II A district soccer match.  Both of Ferrel's goals were assisted by Abigail Smith.   Grace goalkeeper Olivia Bosco had six saves.   (click for more)

Covenant Men Fall In Overtime 2-1

The Covenant men's soccer team dropped its second straight one-goal contest as host Ferrum notched the game-winner in the 97th minute to defeat the Scots 2-1 on Friday evening in USA South action. Prosecutor Calls For "Meaningful Punishment" For Dyer, Brennan In $4.9 Million Swindle

Federal prosecutor James Brooks is calling for a "meaningful sentence" for Doug Dyer and James Brennan, who are charged in a $4.9 million swindle.
