Program On Battle Of Wauhatchie Is Oct. 26

  • Friday, October 18, 2013

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will host a 90-minute program associated with the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Wauhatchie on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m.

A park ranger will lead a program and discussion on the Battle of Wauhatchie – a rare night battle of the Civil War fought Oct. 28-29, 1863.  Often overlooked in the Chattanooga Campaign, this affair in Lookout Valley further secured the “Cracker Line,” the critical supply line that brought much-needed supplies to the Army of the Cumberland from Stevenson and Bridgeport, Ala.

This program begins at the Chattanooga Arboretum and Nature Center parking lot and then will car caravan to sites associated with the Wauhatchie Battlefield.
