Dalton State’s young volleyball squad fell three sets to one to Southern States Athletic Conference member Brenau University in a four set match Tuesday night.
With the loss, the Lady Roadrunners fall to 1-2 at “home.”
The game was held at the Mack Gaston Community Center due to continuing renovations on their future home at on campus Bandy Gym.
A capacity crowd watched the Lady Roadrunners fall to the Golden Tigers (4-3 in the SSAC, 6-10 overall) in a hard fought and competitive match.
The Lady Roadrunners (3-9) dropped the first set 25-20, the second set 25-15 and the fourth set 25-15. They won the third set 25-23. The Golden Tigers did an excellent job of controlling play. Dalton State had many bright spots, but were outplayed by the veteran Brenau squad.
The Lady Roadrunners recorded 26 kills and were given a nice lift by freshman Megan Clark (Warner Robins, GA) in set 3.
“Our defeat was due in large part to a lack of chemistry and communication on the court,” said Coach Bruna Langner after the match. “I hope we can work these issues out this week in practice and play more like we did (Monday night) in our win against Martin Methodist.”
