Alfred Hamilton Greene, Jr., 97, of Chattanooga, died on October 2, 2013.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Greene was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, was retired from Independent Paint and Glass Company, and was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerry Greene.
Mr. Greene will be remembered as the man with a twinkle in his eyes who never met a stranger and enjoyed joking and teasing with others. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors are his daughter, Pam (Nelson) Bowers, Lookout Mountain, son, Al (Gennie) Greene, East Ridge; brother, James Greene, Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Courtney Cobb, Rick Bowers, Jonathan Greene, Jennifer Haley and Karen Bryant; six great-grandchildren, Emmaline Cobb, Andrew Cobb, Izzy Cobb, Hud Bowers, Dawson Bowers and Jacob Greene; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, Oct. 4, at 1:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Dr. Perry C. McCallen officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. in the dining hall at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine Street, Chattanooga.
