Freda Mae Clayton “Nanny” Thompson, 72, of Cleveland, TN, died on Monday, September 30, 2013.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Coker Thompson; her mother, Margaret Cronin Henry and step-father, James Henry; her father, James H. Clayton and step-mom, Mildred Kilgore Clayton; her brothers, James Larry Clayton and J. B. Clayton; and her step-sister, Mott Cash.
Nanny enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved sitting in her front yard with her neighbors and she loved going to church. Nanny was a member of the Samples Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Annette Moore and her husband Gene of Cleveland, Janice Whaley and her husband Doyle of Cohutta and Jamie Drury and her husband Mark also of Cleveland; her son, Jerry Thompson and his wife Donna of Cleveland; her grandchildren, Jason Sullivan, Jana Cameron, Crystal Gladson, Marcus Drury, Brandy Peels, Lacy Lemley, Jeff Thompson and Savannah Thompson; her step-granddaughter, Gina Arnold; her 12 great-grandchildren; her brother, Charles H. Clayton and his wife Connie of Dayton; her special sister, Janice Clayton of Cleveland; her special nieces, Cindy Jones and Kari Boyce; and several other nieces and nephews.
The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted Wednesday, October 2 at 4 p.m. from the North Ocoee Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Mark Cameron officiating. Interment will follow in the Samples Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with John Cochran, Tony Cameron, Travis Martin, Landon Lemley, Josh Peels, Chad Cameron and Jamie Gladson serving as pallbearers. A Dove release will conclude the service.
