Public Education Forum Is Thursday

Alpha Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma will present a Forum on Education on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Brainerd United Methodist Church.  

Dr. Jensi Souders, a Chattanoogan and past international president of Delta Kappa Gamma, will moderate the forum.  The panel will include Rick Smith (HCDE superintendent of Hamilton County Schools), Dan Challener (president of the Public Education Foundation), Dr. Warren Mackey (chair of the County Commission Education Committee), and Lurone Jennings (City of Chattanooga director of Youth and Family Development ).

The public is invited to attend. Opportunities to submit questions will be available at the forum.

1 Killed, Another Injured In Shooting On The Southside Early Sunday Morning; Delivery Driver Carjacked On Southside Earlier

One person was killed and a second person injured in a shooting on the Southside early Sunday morning. The victims are Sharone Porter, 22, who was killed, and Torrie Porter, 24, who had non-life threatening injuries.  At 2:47 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 1400 Cowart St.  on a person shot.
