Tim Swafford Named NAHB Remodeler Of The Year

NAHB Remodelers, the remodeling arm of the National Association of Home Builders, named Tim Swafford, CGR, CAPS, CGP, of Swafford Construction in Chattanooga, the 2013 Remodeler of the Year in recognition of his professional remodeling achievements. 

The announcement was made at the NAHB Remodelers’ gala last Thursday during the Remodeling Show in Chicago.

“Tim Swafford’s superior professionalism is evident in the high regard in which he is held by his clients and peers,” said NAHB Remodelers Chairman Bill Shaw, GMR, GMB, CGP, a remodeler from Houston. “I’m pleased to present this award to a remodeler who is a leader in customer service, craftsmanship and in all levels of our association.”

Mr. Swafford has been in business with Swafford Construction since 1985 and joined NAHB Remodelers in 2003. He is involved in the Home Builders Association of Greater Chattanooga where he serves as the current president in addition to being an NAHB National Director and a member of the NAHB Remodelers Board of Trustees. 

In addition to his excellent customer service record, Mr. Swafford is an active community volunteer who exemplifies the remodeling industry’s charitable spirit.

HEB Board Approves PILOT For Chestnut Street Apartments

The city's Health, Education and Housing Facilities Board voted 6-1 on Wednesday in favor of a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) for a $2 million apartment project on Chestnut Street. The five-story, 220-unit apartment building is planned on the Southside near Main. Woman Injured, Man Dead After Shooting Outside Collegedale Walmart

One man is dead and a woman injured after a shooting near the Collegedale Walmart on Sunday afternoon. The man apparently shot the woman in the lower extremities prior to taking his own life. The incident was at the Game Stop in Ooltewah around 2:20 p.m. The woman was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds to the legs. (click for more)
