TVA Gives $50,000 To United Way Of Greater Chattanooga

Thursday, October 24, 2013

The Tennessee Valley Authority has contributed $50,000 to the United Way of Greater Chattanooga for the eighth consecutive year.

The gift will be used to support 41 United Way partner agencies, schools, neighborhoods and nonprofit groups in the Chattanooga area.

“In addition to providing low-cost, reliable power, TVA is committed to helping improve the lives of the people in the Tennessee Valley by supporting programs and agencies that make a difference in people’s lives,” said Dan Traynor, who is TVA’s chief information officer, and also chairman for the Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign. “TVA is proud to be a part of United Way’s effort to help others and our communities.”

Mr. Traynor and Jamie King, TVA campaign manager, presented the $50,000 check to United Way as part of the Greater Chattanooga Area Combined Federal Campaign.

"United Way values its relationship with our local federal employees," said Eva Dillard, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Chattanooga. "We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication they put into the Combined Federal Campaign each year. Their efforts not only benefit United Way and its funded programs by investing in creating impact in Education and Stability for our communities, but their dollars also go to help a wide variety of organizations throughout the region. TVA and the rest of its CFC partner government agencies are truly Living United for their neighbors."

TVA also supports the United Way and other nonprofit agencies through employee contributions to the annual Combined Federal Campaign, which raised more than $2.8 million company-wide in 2012 to benefit charitable organizations.

This is hardly meant to be flippant but I’d be willing to bet I’ve been in the presence of more great people than anyone you know. First, not a one of them was any good at what made them famous ... (click for more)
